Regardless of the fact that I've had Christmas cards stored up since last summer, I only sent out a handful this year. This was probably due to the small number of cards I had in relation to the many people I know and love, but also just forgetting to send them out sooner, and, frankly, sheer laziness. However, if I had been better prepared, I would have sent these NYC-inspired beauties from Moontree Letterpress.
Last week, it seemed like every magazine at Hearst had their semi-annual beauty sale. Just imagine hundreds – or should I say thousands – of lipstick tubes, bottles of shampoo, and pots of anti-wrinkle cream dumped onto giant conference tables for editors to sort through and snatch up. I stood in line for at least an hour to have a 10-minute window of time to rush in a grab everything I could throw into my sack. For $1 per item, I bought plenty of hair masques for my roommates and friends, self-tanner for my cousin, and perfume for my grandmother.
However, I kept a few things for myself. So far, my favorite new beauty find is Yves Saint Laurent Gloss Volupte in Frozen Cherry. When I glanced at the color during the sale, I thought I was picking up a new red lipstick. Instead, it goes on sheer, like a gloss, and moisturizes like a balm. I'm not saying I would pay $30 for it at Bloomingdale's, but it's a great find for its $1 price tag.
I love it when guys wear ties – for special occasions, the office, or just around the house. (I definitely belong in a fancier decade.)
However, if they want to skip the tie, at least mix up the prints a little. Plaid + stripes? Why not.
After reading E's post about NYC power couples, I realized why I had seen Peggy from Mad Men (i.e. Elizabeth Moss) in the subway a week or two ago: she's married to former SNL-er Fred Armisen. I had no idea.
My roommates have seen me freak out once or twice about gross little roaches in our kitchen or living room (one fell on my head!), so they'll be happy to know...IT COULD BE WORSE! According to Gothamist, the Upper East Side is the least "buggy" neighborhood in all of New York City. Although East Harlem (which is very close by) is the worst. Other places of infestation: the Lower East Side and Chinatown (no surprise), Chelsea, Midtown, and Clinton Hill. This just confirms my fear of ever moving downtown.
